KLJ BROWN SWISS was established in 1983 along side ROBLOCK AYRSHIRES. Farmed as a commercial herd on all pasture. A rigorous breeding program was put in place, of which production was first criteria followed by type.
Over the ensuring years the herd was shifted to various parts of New Zealand which put our breeding program to the test.
This program paid off with a strong line of cows that could forage well, eat grass to produce and still show proud in the show ring to promote the breed.
1993 saw us import the first embryos into New Zealand resulting in further imports over the next 5 years.
1999 the herd was dispersed with us retaining ownership to some of our favourites. KLJ cows are now milking in all corners of NZ. As well as having several Brown Swiss Bulls standing in A. I. Centres in New Zealand.
As breeders of Brown Swiss cattle it was an easy decision that our specialty would be the marketing of Swiss and with our interest in the breed and contacts world wide we are now able to source cattle on behalf of clients with confidence for wherever they are required around the globe.
With a string of cows available for flushing. We have now spread our wings and are supplying embryos along side those that we import. We are flushing our big show cow this season, she has placed in the all breeds every show she has attended this show season. She was supreme champion at TePuke show again this year so we are very proud of her. Her production has lifted to show her real protencal
A very busy lifestyle is led with a 50 hectare farm to run, a charter boat and livestock agents. Working a seven day week is standard practice for us now.
Livestock Agents serving the farming community for a number of years and find we are able to blend this with our excellent LIVESTOCK FIRM NGAKURU LIVESTOCK LIMITED business.
Please feel free to look through our site and enjoy the fruits of our work.
